The Badlands were unbelievable! Photos just can't do justice to it's massive scope and beauty. We're still having a blast. The kids did a junior ranger program today and learned about fossils in the morning after we took a short hike. We drove through the Badlands up to Wall and went to the famous Wall Drug Store. It was a great stop for lunch and souvenirs. We drove back through the Badlands with a few more scenic stops and another short hike. So far our wildlife sightings include a family of badgers, pronghorn sheep, one bison, rabbits, 3 possible wild horses (unless they just got loose into the park) and one rattlesnake. It was just a teeny baby one, but right on the trail!! It slithered off into the brush before I could get the camera snapping.
SO we have a slight itinerary change due to a windshield problem with the RV. We need to get up to Rapid City for some repair work and hopefully get back on the road quickly. Anyhow, we still have plenty to explore in this corner of South Dakota like Rushmore and Wind Caves National Park, so it's not a big deal to be grounded in SD. We are a bit sad that Montana and Glacier will need to drop off this trip, but we'll get there some day.
SO long for now and we'll report again soon.
Reilly and I are very much enjoying following "My Boss" around the country!
